Happy Birthday to a Sweet Young Man & A Little bit of Good News

Today is a really kind of special day for me, 18 years ago I gave birth to this wonderful  baby name Cameron who became the greatest joy a mother could ever have. Happy Birthday to My Wonderful Young Man!! I'm so proud of you and hope you continue to grow as an individual, that you find joy in everything you do and have no regrets. My only regret that your Dad didn't get to see you grow up to be this special young man, he would have been so proud.
Now for  the new bit of good news, early yesterday morning Susan from Die-Versions told me, I was a  semi-finalist, doing the happy dance!!
These are the 3 projects I submitted to Die-Versions. They are pictures of Zachary, my oldest nephew when he was 2 years old.

And if that wasn't enough, I found out one of my cards will be published in the upcoming Cardmaker Fall 2013 Special issue magazine which I can't show you until it is published.

UPDATED: Just found out that I'm Guest Designer (Dynamos in Waiting)  for Die - Versions for the month of May!

Loves Rubberstamps Card Challenge - Create a Tag or Have a Tag on your project

Well I'm back with another card or should I say Tag... This week's challenge at Loves Rubberstamps is to create a tag or have tag on your project. I decided to do a tag. I started off using a manilla tag that I cut out using Tim Holtz sizzix die called Tag & Bookplate. I then ran it thru and embossing folder called Roses & Frame. Tim Holtz has vidoe out that shows you how to cut a slit in the top of your embossing folder so that you can emboss the bottom part of your tag. I then took out my Tim Holtz distress inks using the following colors; Gathered Twigs, Mowed Lawn and Festived Berries to add color.  You find these inks in Laura's store here; http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net/category_248/Tim-Holtz-Distress-Ink-Pads-from-Ranger-Ink.htm  Then I flicked water droplets over the tag so the inks would react. Our sponsor this week for the challenge is QKR and so I chose this rose and printed it out twice. I colored them using my Prismacolor pencils. I then my Versamark ink pad and laid some ink down on the top of the tag and some at the bottom. I took some  Aged Scarlet Embossing Enamel by Stampendous and sprinkled it on top embossing ink and heated from below while it was still warm added the Red Glass Glitter so that it would melt into the embossing powder. I found  this metal 'smile' and this metal rose in my stash that I found at Michael's  which was colored using Tim Holtz alcohol inks.

Loves Rubberstamps Design Day

Well I'm back with another Saturday Inspirational post for Loves Rubberstamps. I started off using Chocolate Chip paper for my base which is a 5" X 7" finished card size. I used the newest collection by Authentique called 'Hope' for the rest. Laura does carry Authentique paper and Magenta stamps here in the store; http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net  I stamped the Victorian Bunnies by Magenta using black stazon ink on acetate  paper. I let it dry and them mounted onto a piece of double sided adhesive. I then applied warm highlighted glitter to the backside. Then took my Tim Holtz alcohol inks and coloured on top of the glitter. I cut out a square frame using brown paper using Marianne Creatables 'Anja's Square' die. I then cut out a larger frame using the larger frame from the same die using blue paper. I added some blue ribbon along with a bow. I added a sentiment from the sticker collection from the same paper collection.

Shelly's Images - TTT Challenge Theme - SEW happy together

Well I'm back with another card to show you, for Shelly's Images new Challenge this week. This week's challenge is to use "Use faux or real stitching on your project".
I don't sew at all, in fact you are looking at someone who failed 'Home Economics' in the sewing component because my mother sewed all my sewing projects. One of projects was a bag, mine was twice as big as everyone else because I didn't read directions very well. So you know the old saying measure twice cut once... it didn't apply to me. So we given this birdhouse apparently I really have trouble following instructions, this image is called bluebirds.  I made them doves using Stampendous 'Shaved Ice' to colour them and Tiger Orange glitter for the feet. I started off using Chocolate Chip as my base which is a 5" x 7" finished card size. I used Bo Bunny's collection called 'Little Miss' for the rest. I added two layers and then cut out bird cages from the same paper collection called 'Little Miss Maree'. Then I used a green paper  which I ran thru a Stampin'Up Embossing folder called 'Delicate Designs Folders'. I then took out my paper piecing tool along with a mat and poked holes long the scalloped edge. I popped this up using pop up dots. I then took another piece called 'Little Miss Jamayka' and cut it out using just the left hand side of paper as shown. Again added  some faux stitching along the left side & popped it up using pop dots. I cut out a bird cage using Spellbinders 'Bird Sanctuary' using the same green paper and then added some glitter using 'Aqua Marine' Glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle'. I colored the Bluebirds using my Prismacolor pencils and added some glitter to the flowers using Purple Portion and Black Suede for the hole in the bird house. I added some peach bow and ribbon to the right hand side of the card by May Arts.

Whimsy Inspirational Post

I'm back with another inspirational post for Whimsy Stamps. I'm using this really cute image called 'Basket of Bunnies' by Crissy's Armstrong. I started off using Crumb Cake as my base which is a 5"X 7" finished card size. I just bought the new paper collection by Authentique called 'Hope' and thought it would go great with the Bunnies. I added 4 layers before I cut out a frame using Spellbinders 'Ornate Artisan Tags & Accents' using 'Await' & 'Lavish' papers. I coloured the basket of bunnies using Prismacolor pencils and added some Twinkling Clouds by glitter flocking by Sparkle N Sprinkle to the tail of one of the bunnies. I added some Dazzling Rose glitter by Sparkle n Sprinkle to their noses, ears and flower centres. For the basket I used 'Liberty Blue' glitter by In the Making Enterprises. I cut this out using scissors and popped this up using pop up dots. I added some light blue pearls as shown as well as added a light blue  bow and ribbon by May Arts. I took 3 white roses by I AM ROSES and colored them using Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst spray called 'Whale Watch Blue' and added some glitter using 'Waterfall' by Sprinkle N Sparkle. I added a couple a tags and matted them using gold paper from the same collection.

I'm back with another card for Loves Rubberstamps card challenge and this week's theme is all about the layers - lots of... Our guest sponsor this week is Birdie Brown. So us Design Team were given a few images to pick from & I chose this image from Birdie Brown called 'Furever Love'. I colored this image using my trusty Prismacolor pencils. I started off using Sage Shadow for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used Kaisercraft 'Marigold' Collection for the rest. I added 3 layers before adding 4th layer that I ran it thru a paper crimper which I laid on the bottom of the card. I cut out a square frame using brown paper from the same collection and using the die from Marianne Creatables  called 'Square Frames'. I then cut out another square frame called 'Anja Square' by Marianne Creatables using paper from the collection plus the musical paper is cut from the same die using a smaller frame. I then place the different square frames on top of one another using pop up dots as shown. I laid the image so it lined up at the bottom of the one frame using pop up dots. I then used a sentiment from the stamp set called 'Love Sweet Love' by Flourishes which you can find in Laura's store here; http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net/item_76/LOVE-SWEET-LOVE-Clear-Stamp-Set-from-Flourishes.htm using black pigment ink and embossed using Pearlustre Emerald EP by Stampendous. Loves Rubberstamps - Design Day

Well I'm back with another inspirational post for Loves Rubberstamps. I decided to keep going with my travels plans this week. Last Saturday I showed you a London background stamp by Justrite, today I will show you the Paris background. You can find some Justrite stamps here in the store; http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net/category_309/JustRite-Background-Border-Stamps--Cling.htm  I started off using Chocolate Chip paper for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used 'French Kiss' by Glitz Designs for the rest. I stamped Paris background stamp onto acetate using black Stazon ink and used a brayer to transfer to the acetate. I found the easiest way to stamp on acetate was to lay the stamp set ink side up, place the actetate on top. I then took a brayer and rolled it across the acetate, check by lifting one side up to see if the ink transferred. If it didn't, gently place it down again so it doesn't smear and brayer across it again. Let it dry before going on to the next step.  I then the laid down on top of double sided adhesive and then added Warm Highlighted glitter to the backside. I decided it needed some colour behind the glitter,  I took Tim Holtz alcohol ink using Watermelon colored the glitter to give it a tint of color. Then I took some silver mirrored paper and ran it thru a Tim Holtz embossing folder called 'Postal Set'. Again I took some pinks and browns alcohol inks to colour the mirrored paper. I then used a La-La Land Crafts Eiffel tower die to cut it out.  You can find this die here in Laura' Store http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net/category_395/La-La-Land-Crafts.htm  After laying Eiffel Tower down on the background I added some glue using a glue pen and then added some salmon glitter to it. I added some off white crochet lace and pink/brown satin ribbon by May Arts. I added a sticker from French Kiss collection by Glitz Designs.

Whimsy February New Release - Inspirational Post

I'm back with another card for Whimsy Stamps using new February Digital Release by Kathryn Stamp Arts Design called Pretty Petals 2. I printed the flowers onto shimmery white paper & colored this fabulous image using Prismacolor pencils. I also added some brown glass microbeads for the center of the flowers by Martha Stewart. I cut the flowers out using Spellbinders 'Lacey Circles' and then sponge the following colors Teal, Tangerine and Chestnut Roan around the edges. Then I used the colors that correspond with Clearsnap Smooch ink to go over & add bling. I started off using Early Espresso for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used Kaisercraft collection called 'Marigold' for the rest. I then cut out a frame which the flowers sit on using brown glitter paper using Joy! Craft Square frame die. I cut out 4 photo corners using another die by Joy! Crafts Lace Corner die using Tangerine Tango paper. I thought it needed some bling so I added some Pumpkin Smooch Ink. I printed the sentiment out onto shimmery white paper and trace the inside of the die around the words. I cut out tag using Spellbinders 'Fancy Tag One' using blue metallic paper. Again I sponged Teal, Tangerine and Chestnut Roan ink around the edges of the sentiment. I added some tangerine and blue/brown dot ribbon thru the tag.

Loves Rubberstamps - Designer Day

Well I'm back with another inspirational post for Loves Rubberstamps. This week I decided to keep on with a travelling theme. This week I'm headed to London which I did get to visit last April for 3 days. Not enough time was spent  in London but we did see some of the major attractions such as; Winston Churchill's War Museum, Buckingham Palace, rode the Eye of London, rode the tube and ate at Hard Rock Cafe. So I started off using black metallic paper for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used Basic Grey 'Serenade' for the rest. I added 3 layers before adding a 4th layer which I made myself. I used a simple batik technique by using the JustRite 'London' background stamp using Top Boss a watermark ink,  stamped on a piece of shimmery white paper. I embossed using clear embossing powder and then heat set. I then took the following ink pads; Teal, Yellow Cadmium and Chestnut Roan and randomly sponged in the  various colors making sure the colors were blended. I then took a hot iron to melt the embossing powder off and was left with the result shown. I stamped the telephone booth from the stamp set called 'London Greetings' by Justrite using black memento ink and colored the image by using Prismacolor Pencils. I added some blue/green satin ribbon along with a bow by May Arts and added a London 3D Sticker that I found at Michael's. You can find Justrite stamps and Black Memento ink here in Laura's Store; http://www.lovesrubberstamps.net/

So I'm sitting in the corner so to speak. I started off using bronze metallic paper for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I then used Kaisercraft collection called 'Marigold' for the rest. I took a paper heart doily and sprayed it using Ranger's Perfect Pearls called 'Kiwi'.  I colored the 2 hearts using my copic markers and for the plain heart I ran it thru a paper crimper. I then colored the locket using Prismacolor pencils. For the sentiment I  punched it out using a scallop punch and sponged on the following Fluid Chalk inks using Tangerine and Lime Pastel. I cut out a tag using Spellbinders 'Fancy Tags Two' using Old Olive paper. I added some crochet lace by May Arts and added various buttons in orange and green by Stampin'Up. I then found a bronze key in my stash and tied a orange satin ribbon by Stampin'Up to add to my card.

Stamping Dragons - Love is in the Air!

Well I'm back with another card for Stamping Dragons and this week's challenge is "Love is in the Air". I started off using Early Espresso for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used Basic Grey collection called 'True Love' for the rest. I added 2 layers and then cut out a third layer using Spellbinder's 'Romantic Rectangle'. I then used a  scalloped edge from the sticker collection on both sides of the card. I took a paper heart doily and sprayed it using Ranger's Perfect Pearls Kiwi Spray. I cut out pink heart using Spellbinder's 'Scallop Heart' and then cut out multi hearts using a Memory Box die called 'Hearts Ensemble'. I cut this  out twice, once with red glitter and pink glitter paper. This die cuts out a frame along with pieces that pop out. So then I just replaced the pieces with different colors as shown. I added a sticker from Basic Grey collection. I added some light aqua ribbon by May Arts in the corners as shown. I printed out Ruperts Valentine onto shimmery white paper and colored him using Prismacolor Pencils and you can find the image here in the store:

Loves Rubberstamps Card Challenge - Anything Goes

It's Tuesday and I'm back with another card for Loves Rubberstamps Card Challenge which is Anything Goes! So I started off using Early Espresso for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I used Basic Grey Collection called 'Senerade' for the rest. I added 2 layers before using a third layer which I ran it thru Tim Holtz's embossing folder called 'Brick & Woodgrain' set. I then ran Teal and Coffee Bean Vivid inks over the embossed areas to highlight. I cut it out using scissors where the edges darted in. I also cut out a tag from the Basic Grey paper called 'Parlor' using Postage scissors by Fiskars and matted this on Early Espresso paper. I then cut a frame using Spellbinders 'Postage Stamps' and again ran it Tim Holtz's embossing folder called 'Brick & Woodgrain' set. I stamped the little boy from the set called 'In Trouble Again' by Paintbox Poppets Collection from Crafter's Companion using black memento ink. I colored this boy using Prismacolor Pencils. I saw this stamp set in Laura' store  and knew I must have it because it  reminds me of my son Cameron who finds trouble or trouble finds him, anyways you can find this set in the store here;

I cut this out using a Marianne Creatables 'Frames & Swirls' and applied Pool Smooch ink to the edges. I added the sentiment using the alphabet stickers from Basic Grey. I added some ribbon and bow by May Arts in the corner.
