HAPPY CANADA DAY to all my family and friends!!
As a designer for Elizabeth Craft Designs we were asked to make a plain and fancy place cards. These place cards are elegant enough for a wedding, simple enough to star at a bridal shower or luncheon. Size them up and add a photo as well as the person’s name!
So here is my plain version of a place card.
Instructions:
1. Cut white cardstock 4 1/2" x 5". Score at 2 1/2" on the 5" side (lengthwise), fold to make a top-fold base for each place card.
2. Cut cream color embossed cardstock 2 1/4" x 4 1/4". Using strips cut from Double-sided Adhesive Sheets, adhere the cream rectangle, centered. Option: Instead of using purchased embossed cardstock, use an Elizabeth Craft Designs embossing folder and emboss your own.
3. Cut white cardstock 2"x 4". Using same adhesive as in step 2, adhere the rectangle, centered.
4. Choose a font for the names. Print on inexpensive computer paper to be sure you like the look and to ensure that the size is right. Print onto white shimmery paper, and cut to fit the place card. Center and adhere as shown (Font used for samples: Segoe Script, 48 pt). An alternative to computer-generated names: Hand lettering!
5. Option: Instead of using purchased embossed cardstock, emboss your own with one of Elizabeth Craft Designs’ embossing folders.

5. Follow step 4 for Plain Place Cards to print names. For added dimension, use foam tape or dots to adhere.
6. Add Transparent/Gold Glitter Borders around the edge name rectangle.
7. Cut flowers from Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz, white metallic stripe cardstock and white metallic paper. (Reminder: You need a metal adapter plate to cut Shimmer Sheetz – Watch Els van de Burgt’s YouTube video to see it in action). Layer the flowers as shown or as you prefer, using foam dots to add dimension between the layers. Add Transparent/Gold Glitter Dots to the center of each flower.
8. Die cut leaves from Gold Metallic and White Iris Shimmer Sheetz.
9. Arrange and adhere the leaves and flowers as shown, using strong hold adhesive (Glue Dots or Tombow Power Tabs).
