Guess what it's time for April's Challenge for Elizabeth Craft Designs  and this month's theme is Elegant & White. So here is my design using Karen Burniston's Accordion Fancy Label (771)
You can find Karen demoing it here.
When I heard about our April challenge using white, I immediately thought of Wedding or Anniversary cards. So my parents are celebrating their 56th Wedding Anniversary in July, so I decided to make an Anniversary card using Karen's Accordion Fancy Label.

How to make this card:

1. Create card base using white paper and cut 3 frames using Accordion Fancy Label (771)
2. For each frame cut out the corresponding Fancy Frame Edge using light gold, white and white stripe paper as shown.

3. On 2nd frame apply transparent gold Peel Offs (sku 7010) on white scallop frame. On 3rd frame apply Glitter Holly Border Gold/Silver on gold scallop frame.
4. Cut out 3 frames using Accordion Fancy Label (771) cut it out leaving just the label using Butterfly Glitter paper by Best Creation. Apply to all 3 frames.
5. Take large label from the accordion fancy frame and cut Silver Shimmer Sheetz and run it thru Swirly Curves (E119) embossing folder. Apply to first frame as shown. Use the same die cut out label using White Velvet paper and run it thru Butterflies (KB119) embossing folder. Apply to second frame as shown here. Use the same die cut out label using White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz and run it thru embossing folder called Petal Power (E117). Apply to third frame as shown.
6. Cut 3 labels using the next size die using white, cream paper as shown.
7. Apply 1 large flower, 2 smaller flowers and 1 butterfly onto double sided adhesive. Apply Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Apply as shown using pop up dots.
8. Apply another small flower onto White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Apply to centre of large flower.

Thinking of You

Well I'm back with another project for Elizabeth Craft Designs and this time I decided to do a scrapbook page to showcase how versatile these products are. This week is really a tough time for me, 6 years ago my husband passed away from Cancer. I had never done any scrapbooking about my husband usually it's just about the child and I found these old picture of him and his mom so here is the page. I'm not sure when this picture was taken but I think around 1945 or 1946. Anyways I really like the mix media craze that going around these days so I decided to let the texture roll.
So I started off using this 'definition' paper from "Tattered Time" by DCWV  which I used  Soft Gel medium to apply definition paper to the white 130 lb card stock. I then took out the following The Crafter Workshop Stencils; TCW219 Punchinella, TCW 454 Specimen and TCW2030 Burlap Bits applied light modelling paste as shown. After it was dry, I sprayed the following colours using Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst sprays using Gold. Copper and Brown.I then applied Copper and Brown Gold Inka Gold by Viva Decor to the raised portions of the stencils. I then used a black Stabilo pencil to highlight the textured of the paste. I also stamped some textures using Texture stamps from Dina Wakley collection using brown Archival ink by Ranger. I then started to layer various papers starting off with a dark brown paper, then a glassine envelope which was stamped using brown Archival ink and using the stamps from Dina Wakley 'Textures". Then I added a white resist paper by Prima Marketing along with kraft resist paper by Tim Holtz,  I put down the photo which I overlaid some taupe crochet trim. All papers were sponged using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then ran some gold metallic shimmer sheetz thru embossing folder called 'Damask' by designer Karen Burniston. Then I sanded the Gold Shimmer Sheetz down and used Timber Brown and Jet Black Stazon ink on the embossed areas. I then used a blank wood ATC blank which I cut it in half, part of it was cover using gold metallic shimmer sheetz. The other ATC part was embossed using an embossing folder called 'Swirly Curves' and then added some Brown Gold Inka Gold to highlight the embossed area as shown below.
I cut out Daisy flowers using the Big Flowers Set 1 by ECD using or Tissue paper and Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz that were embossed using 'Petal Power' Embossing folder and Damask Embossign folder all by ECD. I then used Timber Brown and Jet Black Stazon ink to highlight the embossed areas. For the center of the flowers I used black velvet paper by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I laid some flowers on top of a piece of chipboard which I used embossed in Dauber by Ranger and embossed using Byzantine Bronze and Midnight Bronze Obsidian Embossing Powder by Lindy's Stamp Gang. For the two butterflies I used a paper from Tattered Time and cut them using the silhoutte  butterfly die that comes with the Butterfly Pivot Card by Karen Burniston by ECD. I then cut the overlay using Beige Velvet Paper by ECD and sponged on Vintage Photo for definition.I added small flowers from I Am Roses and sprayed them using Lindy's Stamp Gang Vintage Spray called 'Incandescent Copper' and added a couple of gold flowers and flower charm by Prima Marketing. I added a couple of metal embellishments a rose and a butterfly and used Brown Gold Inka Gold to highlight them. I cut out leaves using gold metallic shimmer sheetz and beige velvet paper using Triple Leaf Set by ECD.
I had a manilla tag which I used for journalling and used a button with twine for the pullout.  I cut out "Thinking of You" using a die and  black velvet paper by ECD. After all that I took some Sepia Acrylic Artists ink by Daler Rowney and made splats on my paper and cover up the photo so it didn't get splat on...

First Ever Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge - Flowers

Hi Everyone!! Welcome to the First ever Elizabeth Craft Designs Design Team Challenge. Once a month we (the designers) will have a challenge using a different theme here at the ECD blog and this month's theme is Flowers. What a better way to hurry Spring in and Winter out than the use of flowers. I don't know about you but I'm tired of winter, here in Alberta, the winters can be long and cold almost 6 months long. So I can hardly wait for Spring, I have already heard the geese back in town. So for my inspiration since I'm a Horticulturist, I decided to have a flower shop as the basis for my card challenge. For the front of my card I used Blushing Bride for my base which is a 5"x 7" finished card size. I then used Bo Bunny 'Primrose' collection for the rest. I added 3 layers and then cut the rose silhouette using the Elizabeth Craft Design die called "Roses (799)" using the iridescent pink shimmer sheetz. I then used the black velvet paper and cut it out using the same die but used the overlay instead. I then cut out various leaves from the same die and used Green Iridescent and Green Peridot Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz. I stamped the sentiment using black crafter's ink, clear embossing powder and used the stamp called 'Friends Forever'. A neat trick is to lay clear magic tape over the words you don't want inked, remove tape and stamp. Then do it for the other side and that's how I stamped the words in 2 different spots.

For the inside, I started off using Early Espresso paper for my base which is 4 3/4" X 6 3/4" which will fit inside the pink card base and cut it out using Karen Burniston's  Lots of Pops die which cuts out the various platforms to which you can add flowers as seen here. In Karen's March Challenge for her design team she shows you how to add more platforms as seen in this video here. So I have added 2 more platforms to add more flowers cause you can never have too much flowers in a flower shop. I added another layer of paper from the Primrose collection and then cut out another Green Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz and emboss using Curvy Leaves Embossing Folder by ECD. I then used some Alcohol ink in various green colors to add some depth. I then cut out the posts using the same die, it was part of the die package using double sided adhesive backed onto brown paper. I then used Teal (628) & Leaf Green (634) Silk Microfine Glitter by ECD to color the posts. I then printed out the 'Flower Shop' words onto Blushing Bride paper and cut it out using banner die that came with the Lots of Pops die collection. I strung the words on using Early Espresso twine and used Tim Holtz little stapler to attach them. I then used the Peel Offs by Elizabeth Crafts called 'Flowers in Pot" (SKU 0356). One of my favorite ways to color Peel Offs is to used double sided adhesive,  Cool Diamond glitter and Copic Markers. Els van de Burgt has a really great video to show you how it is done as seen here.
For the bottom of the card, I added another layer of paper and then cut a piece of pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Again ran it thru Curvy Leaves Embossing Folder by ECD and then used some Alcohol ink in various pink and red colors to add some depth. I added a sticker from the Primrose Collection by Bo Bunny and stamped the sentiment by Penny Black "The Thought of You" using black crafter's ink and clear embossing powder. I cut it down so it would fit on the sticker. Check back on March 31st for the rest of the Design Team cards on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.
